These emerging artists use new, mixed media and interdisciplinary practice to respond to the chaotic world in which they continue to come of age. A range palates create a tone both whimsical and mysterious, one that conveys both anxiety and sincerity, employing a range of intersecting tactics to counter and make sense of the oppressive political landscape where they are situated. As Rauchenberg noted, “The artist’s job is to be a witness to...time in history.”
Instead of the inclusive spaces of famed avant-gardes, New York has conglomerated galleries, where the art shown is dictated by market over merit. Such a trend reflects the same draconian pol- itics which their art responds to and protests against. These artists have grown up with unmatched exposure to the inequity, violence, and pollution of our world. This exhibition comes out of the possibility for artistic revolution.
